My Story
Meet Coach Tim Lim, an elite swim coach, proven leader, and respected mentor with deep roots in the Santa Clarita Valley swimming community. Known for developing athletes who compete successfully at the highest levels of the sport, Coach Tim combines technical precision, disciplined training, and genuine care for the athletes he leads.

Coach Tim began his swimming career at age ten and quickly developed into a high-performing athlete. A four-year varsity swimmer at Saugus High School, he was a key contributor to CIF Division One runner-up teams in both the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays. He continued his competitive career at Colorado Mesa University, gaining firsthand experience in the demands, expectations, and accountability required to succeed at the collegiate level.

That experience now shapes his coaching. Since beginning his leadership path in 2019 as an assistant coach at Saugus High School under Coaches Jim Klipfel and Krista Botton, Coach Tim has built a strong reputation for producing prepared, confident, and competitive swimmers. He has coached athletes across all stages of development, with particular strength working with senior-level middle school and high school swimmers. His athletes consistently demonstrate technical excellence, race discipline, and mental toughness, and many have gone on to earn varsity roles, championship experience, and opportunities at the collegiate level.

Coach Tim is especially known for his ability to prepare swimmers for the transition into high school and college competition. He sets high standards, communicates clearly, and holds athletes accountable while earning their trust and respect. His swimmers work hard for him because they know he is invested in their success, both in the pool and beyond it.

At Paseo Aquatics, Coach Tim is a key member of the senior coaching staff with the job of preparing and supporting teenage athletes, with a strong focus on technique, endurance, race execution, and consistency. He values structure, discipline, and team culture, and believes that competitive success is built through daily habits, clarity of purpose, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Coach Tim is a graduate of California State University Northridge, where he earned a degree in English and his teaching credential. An educator by training and mindset, he brings clarity, intention, and purpose to every practice.

Outside the pool, Tim enjoys reading, writing, bowling, and spending time outdoors. At Paseo Aquatics, he is deeply respected by his swimmers for his standards, his honesty, and his ability to push them to levels they may not have believed possible, while always coaching with integrity and heart.
