Paseo Aquatics Safe Sport

safe-sport-logo.png

Paseo Aquatics is committed to providing a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members.

USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Program is a comprehensive abuse-prevention framework consisting of:

  • Required policies and best practice guidelines

  • Mandatory screening, including background and employment checks

  • Training and education

  • Monitoring, supervision, and mandatory reporting

These measures are informed by child-safety experts and represent some of the strongest safeguards in youth-serving organizations. Paseo Aquatics follows these policies fully to protect our athletes.

Best Practice Guidelines

USA Swimming strongly recommends:

  • Parents are encouraged to support their children’s swimming experience.

  • Practices are open to parent observation.

  • Coaches do not initiate contact or accept supervisory responsibility for athletes outside of club programs.

  • When only one coach and one athlete travel, they should partner with another team at the competition.

  • Peer-to-peer relationships between adults and athletes are to be avoided.

  • Coaches should avoid roughhousing or horseplay with athletes.

  • Instructional contact should occur only in view of others, with prior explanation.

  • Favoritism, special favors, or gifts to athletes are strongly discouraged.

Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP)

Effective April 29, 2019, USA Swimming requires all clubs to follow the USA Swimming MAAPP Policy, which governs:

  • One-on-one interactions

  • Social media and electronic communication

  • Local and team travel

  • Locker rooms and changing areas

  • Massages, rubdowns, and athletic training

  • USA Swimming MAAPP Policy
